Last night was not a good night. I knew it would be as it was windy, and bless my eldest he is scared by it.
It did not start well, as I snapped at my daughter for not settling off well. I felt so bad about it, but thankfully I got the opportunity to give her lots of cuddles before she settled off. My eldest settled off well, but he woke later and would not settle off, no matter what I did or said to him.
I brought him through and did my jobs while he was in bed. He would not settle, and in the end he was still awake when I crashed. It took him ages before he settled and I was not in a good mood by the end of it, as I knew that I was up early in the morning.
Thankfully I managed to get up in the morning and get the younglings ready with no problems.
Homestart was cut short due to the weather and my daughter’s blanket was left there by accident but it went funkily.
In the afternoon when I went to collect my eldest from nursery I remembered that I was due to have a meeting with my eldests teacher, to talk about his personal development plan. It went really well. I did remember things that I could have told her after I had got home, so I will tell her tomorrow.
She said that he is settling in well and is popular. She said that he is too enthusiastic through and that does scare the other children at times, but it is nice to know that he is liked, and that if he just calmed down a bit more then he would be even more liked. I am not sure how we are going to work on getting him to calm down, but I will have to do my best about that.
It was sweet though, when I was reading to him tonight he was asking why it was dark at night, and once I had told him I asked him if he wanted a space scene on his ceiling. He said yes but he also wants Harry Potter on the wall. He also said that he wants Star Wars as well so I will have to see what I can get done for him.
How I manage three small children along with anything else that I have to deal with (and have fun with)

Back to challenging sleeping again
After a couple of good sleeps my eldest is now pretty much back to normal. One night when he came through he fidgeted so much that I sent him back to his bed. He moaned about but thankfully settled off. At least he has not been bad every night. Hopefully he can start to gradually pick up better sleeping habits.
My daughter also did not sleep well last night. I had to go through to hr three times in the night. Thankfully though all she needed was a quick cuddle before putting back in the cot.
Devil Boy and I have been managing to spend more time with the younglings. We have both had fun doing it and the younglings have liked it too.
I have ordered my eldests presents in plenty of time for his birthday but he managed to see one of them so I decided to pass it onto him early. It was only a little present sop that was not too bad.
I also got the younglings little toy lightsabers. They were free with cereal a few years ago, but as we have misplaced our stash of them Devil Boy managed to find some on E-Bay. Two of them arrived this morning and they really like them.

The twin’s two-year development check
The health visitor called by this morning to give the twins their two-year check.
They did really well. They stacked the blocks nicely and they drew with a crayon. The health visitor said she would call back in about 6 months, as she wants to check how my daughter’s speech has developed. She will not need to check my youngest son as his speech is developing really nicely. I am not worried about my daughter’s speech though as my eldest was exactly the same and his speech is really good now.
My eldests sleeping has been wonderful for the last few days. The last two nights he has come through at 7am. That is amazing and we will see how it develops but hopefully this good stage will last for a while. I asked my friend for some tips and she said that I should say to him that if he sleeps well we would do something that he likes. I could not think of what I could temp him with so I just told him that if he sleeps well he would get a biscuit. I have my fingers crossed that this continues as it is good to get a good sleep. Even though the twins did not help last night sadly by waking a few times but at least they settled off quickly.

Happy birthday to the twins
Today the twins are two years old. I cannot believe how quickly it has gone. It really does not seem that long since I gave birth to them and now they are two. I put my eldest in a pretty polka dot dress that my friend gave to her. She looked so sweet. I think I will put it on her for homestart on Thursday.
Me eldest was not happy when I sang happy birthday to them though, bless him he could not understand why I was not saying happy birthday to him.
They got some funky stuff and they particularly liked what my mum got for my daughter. She got her a Fifi and the flowertot thingie. But they both loved it.
We all had a funky day and once again the younglings settled off into their new bedtime routine nicely. Sadly DS1 has woken and he does not seem to be settling off. He wants me to read to him but I am not able to do that. Hopefully he will settle off.

I changed the younglings sleeping routine
A comment that made me think about how I put the younglings to bed so tonight I put the twins to bed before I put my eldest to bed.
I thought that it would not work out as when my eldest was in the bath I could hear the twins blethering to each other. Thankfully though they settled off with no problems (even though it was an hour earlier than usual) and my eldest settled off with no challenges as well. I just have to hope that they sleep through the night (fingers crossed)

He is back to nursery and he is sleeping badly again
My eldest is back to nursery so I have been blessed with some time in the day to0 relax, go on the computer or get some housework done (I also need to locate the helmet for the Boba Fett toy that my eldest son has, I thought it was in on of my bags but I was wrong)
He has settled back to nursery nicely and he is happy to be back there. He is really happy to go back and even though today is Saturday he asked to go to nursery, bless him.
His sleeping is really bad at the moment. He keeps waking in the night and not settling off again so he has ended up in bed with us. He thankfully sleeps well when he is with us but I really would love it if he stayed asleep in his own bed or if he got up in the night if he settled off to sleep again. I will have to find out how we can do that.
My daughter did something really sweet the other day. We got them a Thomas the tank engine push along thingie each. They really like them but she does not sit on it like the boys do. She gets toys and sits them on it instead and pushes them around (it has also encouraged the boys to do the same) the other day though I saw her doing this but she was also putting a baby wipe across the toys lap like a blanket and then she leant over the toy and kissed it on the head before pushing it around (while keeping checking to see if it was still straight) It was just so cute to see. I really never would have imagined a toddler of her age being as gentle and as affectionate as what she is.

Fighting what I want him to do at every stage
My eldest is going through a challenging time of not only refusing to do as I ask but also screaming when I eventually manage to get him to do what I want him to do.
The strangest one though is when it comes to nighttime. I tell him it is bath time and that is when the protests begin. He screams and says that he does not want to go in. I tell him to get in and eventually when he has got in he is happy. He enjoys his bath and thankfully the only thing that he does not protest about it getting his teeth cleaned. He does moan when it is time to get out of the bath and says he does not want to say goodnight to everyone. He does it though but hr saves his next protest for when it is time to take him through to his bedroom. He even protests at time about going into bed. Thankfully he does not moan when I read to him but sometimes his moaning and protests can be tiring. It would be just so funky is one night he can do the nighttime routine without moaning.
The twins are also beginning to be wee pests as well though ~I do count myself very lucky that even though they are nearly two they are doing well. The twins have taken to going where they should not go (like the back of the television) and just generally doing things that they should not do. They also give you the cheekiest smiles and giggle when you say no to them. They both look so cute in their own way when they smile. My daughters nose scrunches up and she has a funky glint in her eyes and my son looks just so cheeky. I can just imagine him having a Han solo type smile when he is older.

Happy New Year
Wow we are in 2008 already. Time really does seem to fly. When I was younger I always thought time dragged…now I know differently.
Thankfully my youngest son is a lot better today and is eating more as well. My daughter also still has a cough but thankfully she seems to have escaped the worst of it like what my sons had and my eldest son is nearly back to normal. He still has a bit of a cough but is much better now.
I have been busy this morning as Devil boy was at his friend’s house last night for Hogmanay. It was nice spending the New Year on my own. I was really busy though. I managed to make up a DVD cabinet. Thought I managed to put the doors the wrong way round. I will sort that out. I also had a lot of cleaning to do so it was really late by the time I went to bed. I really must make sure that I go to bed earlier tonight.
I have been listening to a lot of music this morning for a change. I do not listen to enough music at the moment. Today I have been in the mood for Marillion. I have not listened to them for ages and I have really have enjoyed it. I even danced with the younglings at one point.
Here is to a hopefully very funky 2008.
