Feeling overwhelmed

Today started off well and I started getting some jobs done. The challenges started when Wolfie would not settle off for a nap.

He was tired but he would not settle to sleep. I checked him for the third time when I noticed that there was blood on his lip. I checked his teeth and noticed that his gum was bleeding. I took him through to the living room and gave him some calpol. While he did not seem to be in any pain his gum was still bleeding. Thankfully the bleeding slopped quickly. We then noticed that not only was there a cut above his front two teeth but there was also a cut on his lip and by his ear. I have no idea how it happened as he was in his cot and there is nothing in there that he can cut himself on.

This meant that Wolfie did not get his nap and throughout the afternoon he got progressively crankier. This also meant that I did not get chance to do the things that I would have liked to have done while he was sleeping.

I began to feel totally overwhelmed and down during the afternoon. The kitchen is looking like a mad zone with far too much clutter about and I have not even been able to get any work done with the twin’s room (I had hoped that I would have got it ready for taking the paper off tomorrow) I had planned on taking pictures of the twin’s outfits to put in today but unfortunately I have not been able to do that so it will have to be delayed. I was aching a lot this afternoon and I found moving about uncomfortable. I just felt like I will never get the jobs that need doing done. I had already planned the night out t for finishing off the Christmas presents so I knew that I would not be able to get any cleaning and clearing up done then.

Wolfie settled off to sleep with out any problems and I started to work on dads collage. I thankfully managed to get it finished and managed to get all of the collages wrapped, the cards written out and parcelled up.

Unfortunately as I was just about to get ready for bed Wolfie woke up very tired and distressed. I have given him some calpol and put and extra pair of pyjamas on him as well as for a one off given him his dummy but he is not settling off again. I have found that for the last two or three nights he has been waking earlier than usual. I am thinking that it is to do with him teething (it looks like he is cutting four teeth at the same time, including his incisors) I am hoping that he will be able to settle off soon.

Edited to add: Wolfie was still very upset when I went through so after cuddling him lots I took the dummy off him as it was not helping at all and decided that I would read to him a little while. I read for about 5 – 10 minutes before he was ready to leave. He seemed much more settled when I tucked his blankets. When I left the room he also looked much more relaxed and thankfully he seems to have settled off now. So once it is definite that he has settled it will be off to bed for me as well.
