Getting better at getting out and about and good news about dad

The night shift went well. They took their time settling but I managed to get them settled in the end. Thankfully they settled nicely separately which made it easier to deal with.

I managed to get up earlier than I expected (9.30) so I went back to bed to get some more rest. I managed to sleep until 11.15.

When I got up later I got the twins fed, changed and dressed for going out to the group that I go to in the afternoon. I had a nice lazy morning and Devil boy got Wolfie ready to go out while I put the twins in the pram.

Wolfie managed to do really well walking to the group, as it is a long walk for them and it is up and down the hill. Malach cried most of the way, as he was ready for another feed.

I managed to get to the group on time this week so I now know how to time leaving the house for next week. The group went really well. I had Malach sat on my knee and after I fed him I sang nursery rhymes. Wolfie normally runs about the room and will not sit still but as I had Malach on my knee he wanted to happily sit on my knee as well. LOL I joked that I now knew a way to get Wolfie to sit still for a while.

I found out today that the woman at the group is pregnant (she is due in late August) I think it is an unexpected pregnancy but she is really happy about it. I have told her that I will keep hold of some baby clothes for her. She is going on holiday to America in a couple of weeks to America. She told me that she was really happy that she has managed that the holiday is happening at this stage in her pregnancy. LOL she is already falling victim to the pregnancy brain as she called Wolfie by the wrong name.

He was also very cuddly during the group and hugging a lot of the toddlers. Wolfie was not a happy bunny on the way home though. He cried most of the time and threw many strops. On the way home it was Elbereth’s turn to cry most of the way home (thankfully Malach slept through it all) Wolfie though; poor wee poppet was really tired and hungry as well as thirsty. I had to carry him part of the way (thankfully just the last part) Next week I am going to make sure that he has not only eaten lots before we leave the house but also that I take a snack for him to eat on the way back. He will get used to it though.

We had our dinner shortly after we got home and I washed the nappies when I had changed them all. Elbereth had an interesting explosion, which resulted in her having to be completely changed.

Wolfie settled off after the second time of being read to and after he went to sleep I fed Elbereth and had a lovely soak in the bath.

My friend called me tonight. I am really looking forward to seeing her. I am not sure when she can make it up but it will be wonderful when she can. I love living up here but I wish that she were living up here as well.

I also phoned my mum as well to ask how dad is getting on. The phone was really rather strange when I I called. It rang, was answered and then I heard ‘oh, god…is that you John?’ I said no and when mum realised who I was she was shocked as well. She had just picked up the phone (obviously before it rang) but she was just about to call me to update me about dad

Dad is getting on really well and is off most of the drugs and tubes that he was on. He had a clot (like a blood blister though), which the body can normally get rid of but this is a little too big for him to get rid of so they are draining it. The said it is no problem and it should be gone by tomorrow. He is still receiving a little extra oxygen into his system but he should be off that tomorrow as well. He has been moved out of the intensive care though and is in the normal ward which is really good news. I will send a get-well card along with the crossword book that I have got for him in the next day or two. Mum was telling me that she is not happy with dad’s brothers. She has told them about his operation and none of the have phoned to ask how he is. She has spoken to one though and told him that she is not happy about his lack of phoning up. He was really upset as he said he did not realise dad was so ill and I think he is going to go and see dad soon.

He is making a nice recovery at least. Mum thinks he will be in hospital for the full ten days but that is not a bad thing. Mum was telling me that she thinks that he expected to feel better strait away but he is still making a good recovery though.

The twins have now been fed and the only thing I have left to do tonight is clean up a little and put the nappies out on the radiator before the night shift begins. The competitions can wait until tomorrow. I have not managed to get them done tonight as I was talking on the phone (an enjoyable diversion though)
