Well after being settled all through the day both Bambino MKII and Elbyreth decided that they would not settle almost as son as it stuck 12. I was shattered after not getting much sleep, I had only managed to get around 5 hours sleep since the night before and I was really feeling shattered.
I fed, winded them, changed etc but as soon as I managed to get one settled the other would wake up. Thankfully though one of the midwives offered to help settle them at 1 so I was able to get some sleep.
They brought them through a few hours later so I could feed them but I was feeling so much better for getting a few hours sleep.
It is so sweet looking at them as it brought so many memories back from when Wolfie was a newborn. I had forgotten how that when newborns start crying their whole head turns bright red instantly as well as the cute way their bottom lip and tongue quivers when they cry. It is also really amusing that when they cry they sound like they are saying laa laa laa.
Today has gone really well and I decided that I should be prepared for the nighttime shift and I have taken lots of naps as soon as I had the opportunity. They settle so well during the day it is wonderful. I just wish they could settle so ell at night. The midwife told me that because the milk production is better at night that is why they are awake more at night at this stage. I also think that they settle better with daytime noises but it is like the silence of night is strange to them as I am sure that I read that it is noisy in the uterus.
I decided that I would stay an extra night in the hospital. I was worried that I was so tired I was not too good with the night shift so I would not only see how I manage tonight but if I am too tired I can always ask for help from the midwives. Hopefully it will go well though.
Devil boy came to visit me in the afternoon and by the time that he arrived all of the others that were in my room had gone so we actually got some privacy. His brother was looking after Wolfie so he could relax during the visit instead of running around after Wolfie.
About half an hour after I was told that I was to be moved into a different room. I was hoping that it would be a single room but unfortunately it was another shared room. They told me that they needed to clean the room so that was why I was moved. I did not get a window bed in the new room so I was a little miffed.
Devil boys mum, grandma and aunt visited that night and took a few photos. His mum and dad will be picking us up from the hospital. The hospital has lent me a couple of car seats to take the twins home in. I was going to take them home on the train but both my mum and dad and Devil boy’s relatives were not too happy about that as they said that I could not do that. This made me smile as I thought I wonder what they did before cars though.
I managed to get a few more naps after Devil boy’s relatives left in preparation for the night shift.
