Wednesday 18th January 2006 – Getting settled and back into a routine

The night shift went quite well. Devil boy brought the mattress through to the living room and let me get a nap. He woke me up when a baby needed feeding and in-between he kept them entertained and settled them until nearly 4 in the morning.

I would not have let him stay up that late though had I known but bless him he let me sleep through. I took the twins through to the back room and fed them, changed and winded them and then I ended up having to put them alongside me. I think they were not settling because of the temperature difference. I will have a think about how I can solve that little challenge, as I do not want them to get used to sleeping alongside me.

The morning went well and I managed to get Wolfies nappies washed and I placed a Tesco order while the twins napped. I have managed to get a slot for the food to be delivered tonight. It was strange really as the available slots for tomorrow cost 1£ more than tonight’s slot.

The midwife called around today to check both the twins and I. She also did the heel prick so that they could be tested for various things (Opps I have forgotten what for though LOL) She told me that the twins were a little cool and that when the flat is not that warm to put a cardigan on. She said that apart from that they are getting on well. They are still slightly jaundiced but looked all right. She also examined me and said that I was getting on funkily. The stitches were healing well and my uterus was contracting nicely. Thankfully the cramps that I was getting in the hospital have now faded. I am happy about that, as they were really uncomfortable (especially when feeding)

I spent the rest of the day in a round of feeding. Changing, winding, settling, running about the flat trying to get organised and settled back in and when I had a spare moment going on the Internet to post my birth story. I actually had a little time to browse the Internet but still not enough time to check my E-Mails.

Devil boys brother came up in the evening and started to take off the wallpaper in the twins room. He also has some special wallpaper that he can put up that will be good for the damp that is in there. Thankfully since taking off the original wallpaper it odes not seem to be too much of a problem. I am not sure what is causing the damp but it seems to be an ongoing problems.

I managed to get some rest in the evening and as the night wore on the twins started getting more and more challenging to settle in preparation for the night shift.
