Tuesday 17th January 2006 – Coming back home

The night shift went well after I decided to cheat tonight and I put them on the bed next to me. We all slept really well and I felt much better for it in the morning. The twins had a good feed in the morning and I was hoping that Elbereth would be well enough to go home.

The midwife came around and checked the twins. She told me that while Elbereth was still slightly jaundiced her weight was good again. She was not back to her birth weight yet but she was within the 10% weight loss that they would like to see. This would mean that we could go home. I was not only really happy that she was not getting along funkily but also that we could go home. I was really ready to go home as I was missing Wolfie and I am looking forward to getting the twins into a routine.

I phoned Devil boy and asked him to arrange the transport for getting home. I was then able to rest for a bit, eat lunch and wait for Devil boy’s cousin to collect us.

She arrived later with her mum to take us back home. It was lovely being back home and while Wolfie is not the biggest for his age he seemed so big and so heavy not that I have got used to handling little newborns. He was lovely with the twin’s when I went into the house. He went over to the car seats and babbled lots to them. He got rather excitable though and got a little hyperactive.

I am sure that Wolfie will get jealous of the twins but we will deal with that hopefully as and when it happens. I am happy that he gave them such a nice greeting and we will see what happen over the next few weeks.

It felt rather strange to be back home and so much felt like it had changed. Devil boy had made a wonderful job of cleaning the kitchen but the sock and laundry baskets were in a bit of a state and the twin’s room was looking rather chaotic as well. I think it will take a while before I feel like there is order again in our household.

The twins have been reall7y good today though. They have slept well and they have settled well after being fed, changed, winded etc. I wish it was like that at night when they do not settle well at all.

I decided to rest as much as possible in the night ready for the night shift.
