Well for the next eight days that is.
My partner left at just before six and is now in North Uist. I would love to be able to go around the Hebrides one day. I remember when I used to just want to go abroad but now all I want to do is tour the north and discover when we have. I know that there are many stunning places in the North and I know that the Highlands are different to the Lowlands, it will be interesting seeing what is different.
I was having a debate with my brother at Christmas about the argument for staying in your own country against going abroad. I do understand his argument about seeing other cultures but I turned that against him when I said that he could go to the Shetlands and the Orkney's and see a completely different way of life that you would not only find in Mainland Scotland but anything that you will find in England. In the Shetlands it is close to Norway so there is a big influence in their culture from there.
That is another couple of Islands that I would love to visit. I would love to do a road trip around the Highlands one summer and then around the Islands the following year. I would like to do this before the younglings leave high school.
There was an interesting incident with my daughter as we were walking home from nursery. Even though I asked her at the nursery if she needed the toilet she said no. But not long from the nursery she told me that she needed to go and I could tell that she really needed to go. I got her ready but she started faffing about with her coat and tipped herself at a funny angle that I could not rescue, cue wee spraying all about the place and one very upset daughter.
I decided to take the short cut home so she could get out of her wet clothes quicker. She was crying all the way along and down the short cut through the wood (it is down a slope). There was a man who walked past and I think he thought I was doing something terrible as he was telling me about the steps that I knew about and he did not look convinced when I told him that she was just upset after an accident and that we had walked this way before. He kept looking back along the path as she did not want to stop crying her. Bless her she kept saying 'I can't stop crying'
The day for me has gone pretty well. Because I had planned my shopping out well yesterday I did not have to go out shopping this morning. I was then able to get a lovely soak in the bath. I really needed it and it was just nice to relax. Tomorrow I will not be able to relax though as I will be rushing out to get enough shopping to last four days. I thought originally I would have to last three days to cover the weekend but I now realize that Monday is a bank holiday. I have been making up a shopping list during the day of things that I will need to get. I think I will have to take my shopping trolley tomorrow.
I will also have to cancel my appointment with the bank tomorrow as I will not be able to make it anymore.
There was a stressful bit during the bedtime build up madness. They went mad at one point but after raising my voice they managed to calm down enough to sit still for a bit and that was when they started calming down. It was fine after that and they were pretty calm and getting them ready for bed went well. I do wish that my eldest would settle off better. He does like watching Yu-Gi-Oh but that finishes at nine o'clock. It would not be so bad if he settled off to sleep strait away but he gets up a few times after that and tonight it was nearly ten before he stopped getting up. Though the last time was to use the toilet. I will have to stop him from watching Yu-Gi-Oh if he continues to settle off badly. Now we can record the programme it is not too much of a problem for him to see it.
